Education for Teens

Confirmation

During the School Year

The confirmation program for 6th through 9th graders challenges young people to grow in faith, deepen friendships, experience service opportunities, and develop mentoring relationships with adult members of the congregation.

6th Grade Pre-Confirmation

6th graders meet on Sundays at 9:10 a.m. following the Sunday School schedule as a more thorough introduction to Lutheran faith and worship.  The program also includes mini-retreats with parents and a camp experience.

7th, 8th & 9th Grade Confirmation

7th, 8th and 9th graders meet regularly on Wednesdays throughout the school year, starting with a meal at 6:45 p.m. and moving to a classroom setting for teaching and conversation about the basics of Lutheran Christianity and Bible study.

Meal Nights

Typically on the first Wednesday of the month, 7th through 9th graders gather with their parents and adult mentors from the congregation for a meal at 6:30, followed by a presentation by a pastor with video, and then move to small group conversations.

Lutherdale Bible Camp

At St. Stephen's, we are proud to partner with Lutherdale Bible Camp in Elkhorn, WI.  It is a beautiful setting on Lauderdale Lakes.  Besides swimming and boating, the camp features farm animals, high and low ropes adventure courses including a climbing tower and zip line, fun counselors, crafts, games, clown worship, campfires, and more.  Even the food is good at camp!  Outdoor camping ministry creates friendships, nurtures faith formation, and deepens contact with the natural world around us.

This summer, students finishing 7th and 8th grade can plan to be at camp for the week of July 18-23. That week also features a mission trip for high school students to work in inner city Milwaukee.  Dates for our 6th grade camp with pastors will be June 28 to July 3.  Don't miss it!
