Sharing Faith

A Look Together at Luther’s Small Catechism

The 10 Commandments

We completed a loop through the important parts of the Small Catechism, but we can never get past these basics of faith, so we’re starting back over at the beginning!

The 5th Commandment

“You shall not murder.”

What does this mean? (You shall NOT!)

We are to fear and love God,

so that we neither endanger nor harm

the lives of our neighbors...

Three commandments focused on our relationship with God. The 4th was about how we relate to    parents and others higher than us. All the rest are about loving our neighbor—all of our equals,  meaning everyone else!

Is it only breaking the commandment to murder somebody?

What else harms life, besides killing?

Why is murder not loving your neighbor? What would be more loving?
