Helping Families Grow Closer to God and Each Other
Did you know that one of the main goals for our Children and Families Ministry here at St. Stephen’s is to help families grow closer to God and to each other? It is!

BlessingsBlessing Your Children
Did you miss the congregation's blessing of the school-year for children? Use this at home with your family instead! Place your hands on your special young person or grasp hands as a family. Say something like, "My Precious Child, Wherever you go and whatever you do today, know that our Lord goes with you. You were created by our Loving God. You are chosen and redeemed by Jesus Christ. You are guided and strengthened by the Holy Spirit. I love you and I will hold you in my heart and mind until we see each other again." Make the sign of the cross on their forehead, along with a kiss and a hug. Amen!

Email Blasts
EmailOccasionally, we like to share fun, family-togetherness activities and information that will be helpful and useful for you. If you have children in the Sunday School program and you gave us your emailFacebook address, you are already on the list! If we inadvertently missed you, or if you don’t have Sunday School age children but would like to receive the emails anyway (think “fun with grandchildren, friends, etc.”), please email Paige at to be added to our list! You can also find us on our Children & Families Facebook page.

We usually take pictures at our family events. Frequently, these photos appear on our website, Facebook page, in our newsletters, and on display at church. If you do not wish to have your child’s photo (or your own) taken or displayed, please let the photographer know and contact the church office. Thanks!

Family Camping Weekend in Review
Family CampingWe had a great time camping at Smokey Hollow this past weekend!  Some highlights of the trip included:  investigating about a million teeny tiny tadpoles and frogs (and a few adult toads, as well), water squirter wars, warm days and cool nights, trying out their retro Ms. PacMan arcade game, blinky wristbands and glow sticks, burying almost everything you can think of in the sand, and falling asleep around the campfire!  Look for pictures on the AV/TV outside the sanctuary!

Child Protection Policy DevelopmentChild Protection Policy
We have assembled a team to write a comprehensive Child Protection Policy for St. Stephen’s. This policy will be used to help guide our hiring and training of staff, volunteers, and congregation members as we seek to raise and educate our children in a safe and healthy environment. It may include background checks, training workshops on preventing physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, guidance on the use of social media, and more. The team began laying the ground work for the development of this policy in the fall and is now in the early drafting phases. Once it is completed, perhaps sometime this spring or early summer, the Ministry Board will review it for adoption and seek changes as necessary. If you are interested in being a part of this important discussion, talk to Paige!
