Confirmation
Confirmation
During the School Year
The confirmation program for 6th through 9th graders
challenges young people to grow in faith, deepen
friendships, experience service opportunities, and develop
mentoring relationships with adult members of the
congregation.
6th Grade Pre-Confirmation
Pre-confirmation gives 6th graders an opportunity to grow in
faith. Components include worship, mini-retreats, meal
nights and camp.
7th, 8th & 9th Grade
Confirmation
7th, 8th and 9th graders meet regularly on Wednesdays
throughout the school year. Students share pizza, then study
basics of Lutheran Christianity. On the first Wednesday of
the month, parents and mentors join students for the meal
and a presentation. After a final paper on their faith,
students are confirmed in 10th grade.
Meal Nights
Typically on the first Wednesday of the month, 7th through
9th graders gather with their parents and adult mentors from
the congregation for a meal at 6:30, followed by a
presentation by a pastor with video, and then move to small
group conversations.

Boundary Waters Canoeing
The Boundary Waters canoe trip is set for July 1-6, 2012. We
will be leaving out of Tuscarora Lodge on the Gunflint Trail
in northern Minnesota. We need to have a $100 deposit by
January 15th in order to get the appropriate permits for our
trip. The trip is open for all confirmation students and any
interested adults. If you have questions, please talk to one
of the pastors.
National Youth Gathering
The
theme, citizens with the saints, is drawn from the
second lesson for Sunday, July 22, 2012 (Ephesians 2:14–20),
paraphrased here:
Jesus is our peace. In his
life and death on the cross, Jesus broke down the dividing
walls so that we are no longer strangers and outsiders, but
we are citizens with the saints and also members of the
household of God. The foundation of God’s house was built of
apostles and prophets, and Jesus, the cornerstone, holds it
all together.
The theme also blends the rich
faith history, diverse cultures and arts of New Orleans with
the communion of saints that is present whenever and
wherever God’s people gather!

Lutherdale Bible Camp
At St. Stephen's, we are proud to partner with Lutherdale
Bible Camp in Elkhorn, WI. It is a beautiful setting on
Lauderdale Lakes. Besides swimming and boating, the camp
features farm animals, high and low ropes adventure courses
including a climbing tower and zip line, fun counselors,
crafts, games, clown worship, campfires, and more. Even the
food is good at camp! Outdoor camping ministry creates
friendships, nurtures faith formation, and deepens contact
with the natural world around us.
