Thanksgiving Eve Worship
Wednesday, November 26 at St. Stephen's,
President Lincoln declared Thanksgiving to be a time set aside for giving
thanks to “our beneficent Creator” (meaning the God who “does good” in all
the ways of our lives). To fulfill that purpose, we gather in worship at
St. Stephen’s this year in a shared ecumenical gathering with brothers and
sisters from Monona United Methodist, Lake Edge Lutheran, and more. Worship
is Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday the 26th at 7:00 pm.
Treats with Thanks:
We want to show hospitality with our Thanksgiving Eve gathering. Please
bring bars or a snack to share after worship. We’re also in need of Sunday
morning fellowship treats; grab a tin!
Thank God…a Break!
Thanksgiving Breaks: Classes and Food
Some pauses in our schedule in these days: There is no
God’s Word Alive Bible Study today; it resumes next week at
10:30. Wednesday Morning Bible Study and Confirmation break
this week. Next Sunday, there is no 9:10 Forum or Sunday
School. Furthermore, the Food Pantry is closed Wednesday
and Thursday, and the church office Thursday and Friday.
Adult Forum: Hymn Sing
Sunday, November 23, at 9:10 a.m.
On the 4th Sunday of the month, we have Hymns by Request.
Bring your favorites of thanksgiving or other requests.
This is also your chance to submit a suggestion for the
Pick-a-Hymn drawing – must be present to win
Family Fellowship Time
Sundays at 9:35 a.m.
The Children and Families Ministry
Team would like to invite you to join us for a Family
Fellowship Time each Sunday from 9:35 to 9:55 a.m. Drop the
kids off at Sunday School and then grab a quick cup of
coffee, a snack, and a short conversation before heading
into the 10:00 Worship Service. It’s a great way to get to
know other St. Stephen’s parents and make some great
connections at a time that you’re probably already here
anyway. Call it Multitasking. Call it Networking. Or just
call it Caffeine and Conversation. But whatever you call it,
please join us!
Yoga: Monday and
Join us for Yoga Mondays at 7:00 pm and
Wednesdays at 10:30 am. Suggested donation is $10. Join in stretching, flexing, relaxing, and feeling good.
Those who placed orders in the 2nd round of “God’s work. Our hands.” St.
Stephen’s t-shirts can now claim your new apparel!

Advent Begins November 30
Though it’s the
end of a holiday weekend, join us in worship next week for the 1st Sunday of
Advent. Preparing with hope for the coming of our Lord, the beautiful blue
paraments will be up, and we’ll light the first candle on our wreath.
Saturday, December 6
Join us to “deck the halls” on Saturday, Dec. 6, starting around 8:00 to
make the inside of our building look great for the season. Lend a hand with
lights outside that day, or whenever the weather cooperates. We are still
seeking a large tree.
Black Friday Childcare Fundraiser!
Friday, November 28th from 8:00 am to 1:00
Hey, Moms and Dads! Are you hoping to get a little Christmas shopping done
without the “help” of your little ones? Here’s a great opportunity for you
to help yourself and the young people of our congregation! The youth of our
congregation who are traveling to Detroit this summer for the National Youth
Gathering will be offering a Black Friday Childcare Fundraiser at St.
Stephen’s on Friday, November 28th from 8:00 am to 1:00 p.m. St. Stephen’s
youth and adults will be taking great care of your babes, while you’re out
taking advantage of those crazy door buster deals! You can shop in peace and
quiet (well…maybe not!) without the kids because they’ll be busy doing
crafts, playing games, making family Christmas presents, eating snacks,
watching Christmas movies, and more! Children ages 1-10 are welcome for all
or part of the time. Have questions or want to sign your children up?
Contact Becky Mitchell at
firstname.lastname@example.org. Free-will offering will be taken (with the
suggested donation TBD). If children are planning on being at church over
lunch, please send a sack lunch with them.
Apple Pie: Pick Up November 23
A Few Still Available
St. Stephen's youth participating in the 2015 National Youth
Gathering are selling coupons for $15 each, good for one apple pie to be
picked up on Sunday, Nov. 23rd. These pies will be frozen and ready to bake
fresh and serve warm for Thanksgiving and will come with a bag to bake it in
Family Advent CrAfternoon
A Fun Afternoon of Christmas
Craftiness and Fellowship!
Sunday, December 7th from 11:00-2:00 (Feel free to come
and/or leave when it works for your family.)
Families of all ages are encouraged to join us in the
Fireside Room for this free event. Bring a potluck dish to
share. Drinks will be provided. This was a great success
last year and we’re excited to be doing it again! We’ll
have several Advent and Christmas craft projects for your
family to choose from and make together. We supply the
project ideas, examples, and needed materials. You supply
the creative energy and fun! We’ll round out the festive
atmosphere by playing Christmas music and having some lunch
and snacks to munch while we craft. Look for examples around
church during November!!
Supplies Needed: We are in need of some supplies to make our CrAfternoon
possible! Clean glass jars with screw-fit lids (like empty
pickle or olive jars); used Christmas cards; tiny “knick-knacky
figurines” to put inside a snow globe—examples could include
tiny action figures, tiny Christmas trees/reindeer/etc.
Please check back as the time gets closer because we may
have more/different needs for supplies!
