Come Splash in the Spirit!
Vacation Bible School 2016
July 25-28

It’s time to invite, to register, and to sign up to help us provide a fun learning opportunity for children this summer at St. Stephen’s. Before swim lessons, before ball games, we hope you’ll bring your children, your neighbor’s children, your grandchildren and yourself for a morning in the comfortable air-conditioned spaces around this building from 9:00 am-Noon. We’re going to use a rotation model with fun mini-workshops including: art, music, outdoor games, science experiments, snacks, and more! Sign-Up online at www.signupgenius.com/tabs/1357EDD0FA5C53-ststephens or put your name on the bulletin board outside the Sanctuary. Talk with Mary Tygum or Jessica Sullivan about how they are helping and how you might join them!

Calling all Singers!
We have identified three opportunities for you to join together as a choir to enhance, beautify and lead our worship during these summer months: June 26, July 24, and August 28. In each case, we will meet for a brief rehearsal at 8:00 am, and sing at the 9:00 service. Please consider joining us, especially if you are typically unable to commit to the weekly choir rehearsal schedule! Singers of all ages are welcome, and families are encouraged to attend together. No choir robes, no auditions, no lengthy commitments. Please speak to Rebecca (rebecca@ststlc.net) if you have any questions, or sign-up on our Facebook page.

Summer Mission Journey: July 20—23

Certainly life is not fair, but have you ever asked yourself: “Why?”
High School Youth, Young Adults, and all who are young at heart (but old enough to help)
St. Stephen’s and Lake Edge Lutheran Churches will be partnering with Urban Immersion of the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches. This service retreat will help us ask the question and discover our personal role in the answer. Our Mission will combine the study of why people are poor with hands-on help to those in need. Our travel together will build community and open our eyes to see the beauty and possibility of the world God has made, propelling us to move beyond a
one-time volunteer experience.
When: Wednesday (depart 8 am) – Saturday (return4 pm) Cost: $300 per participant covers lodging, meals, travel
Where: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Why: to serve God and neighbor!
The Youth Activity Fund will help make it possible for every High School student to join in the journey! Contact the office for details: office@ststlc.net. Let us know you’re interested, register by mid-May to reserve a spot!

Guys Night Out Tuesday, July 12, 7 pm

Plans for Repacking
Sunday, July 18, 1-4:30 pm

It's time to talk. The feelings of grief, confusion, anger, or compassion surrounding the  car crash of our former pastor, Bruce Burnside have not been shared in many open forums at St. Stephen's. Maybe there are things for us to learn from this, even as we continue our prayers for the healing of the Mengelt family and friends and the welfare of Bruce as he serves his prison sentence. Bishop Mary Froiland will join us for the day, and conversations will be focused on a variety of topics.  More information will be in the July newsletter, including a schedule. Come for all, come for part. If you cannot be here that day, we can still talk!

Monona Munchies—So Kids Can Eat!
Monday, June 20th – Friday, July 15th 11am-12:45pm.
Volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve food to kids and families this summer! St. Stephen’s doesn’t have a particular “day” to staff this year. Instead, we are asking you to look at your calendar and decide which day(s) work best for you to help provide sack lunches to hungry kids. Details and Sign up at http://tinyurl.com/mononamunchies2016 .
