Summer Mission Journey:
Certainly life is not
fair, but have you ever asked yourself: “Why?”
High School Youth, Young
Adults, and all who are young at heart (but old enough to
St. Stephen’s and Lake Edge Lutheran Churches will be
partnering with Urban Immersion of the Greater Minneapolis
Council of Churches. This service retreat will help us ask
the question and discover our personal role in the answer.
Our Mission will combine the study of why people are poor
with hands-on help to those in need. Our travel together
will build community and open our eyes to see the beauty and
possibility of the world God has made, propelling us to move
one-time volunteer experience.
When: Wednesday (depart 8 am) – Saturday (return4 pm) Cost:
$300 per participant covers lodging, meals, travel
Where: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Why: to serve God and neighbor!
The Youth Activity Fund will help make it possible for every
High School student to join in the journey! Contact the

interested, register by mid-May to reserve a spot!
Youth Group Third
Sunday, June 19
Before you make that special supper for Dad, all High School
youth are invited to join Lake Edge and Trinity youth for a
short service project. We’ll meet at St. Stephen’s at 11:45
and head over to the Farmer’s Market to collect
contributions for the Food Pantry. Back to church for a
little more fun, and done by 1:30.
Summer Opportunity for
Sundays, May 29-June 19;
9:00-10:00 am; Library
This summer there is an opportunity for youth who are in
grades 3 through 5. Meet with Jessica Sullivan over 4
Sundays to focus on The Ten Commandments, The Lord's Prayer,
and the Apostles' Creed. These will be studied in a fun way
that includes discussion and crafts. We will meet from 9am
until 10am in the Church Library on the following dates: May
29, June 5, June 12, and June 19. Feel free to come for one
or all four Sundays. Adult helpers are welcome! Contact

Tuesday, June 14; 4:00 to
OR Sunday, August 7, 3:00-5:30 pm
Attention children and families interested in learning more
about Holy Communion! We have two more opportunities for you
to join us—Tuesday, June 14th from 4:00-6:30pm OR Sunday,
August 7th from 3:00-5:30pm! All ages are welcome, with 2nd
grade students and younger children who are already
communing especially encouraged to register! This is
designed as a family workshop, so older and younger siblings
are welcome and encouraged to participate. Due to the nature
of this event, in order to participate, you must call the
church office and sign up at least one week prior to the
Vacation Bible School
Come Splash in the Spirit! Make plans to join us for VBS
this summer! We’re trying something new with Vacation Bible
School this year, and we need lots of volunteers and
participants! We’ll use a rotation model with fun
mini-workshops including: art, music, outdoor games, movies,
science experiments, snacks, and more! Look for our big
display on the bulletin board just outside the church
sanctuary and sign up to help! Registration information

We will gather at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 10, at Mr. Brew’s
Taphouse for fun and fellowship! All men of St. Stephen’s
are welcome to join.

Please join us at 9:00 am at Monona Gardens
restaurant for fellowship and fun. We will share our
memories of the Spring Fling bus trip and discuss other
possible field trips we could take.

Monona Munchies—So Kids
Monday, June 20th – Friday, July 15th 11am-12:45pm.
Volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve food to kids
and families this summer! St. Stephen’s doesn’t have a
particular “day” to staff this year. Instead, we are asking
you to look at your calendar and decide which day(s) work
best for you to help provide sack lunches to hungry kids.

Mallards Game: June 18
Mark your calendars now to join us for St. Stephen’s Day at
the Duck Pond! Saturday, June 18th, we’ll meet at 5:00pm to
tailgate. All-you-can-eat hotdogs, hamburgers, sides, and
soda. ($5 more gets you all the beer you can drink.) The
game starts at 6:35pm. Cost is $20/ticket, which includes
the tailgating and the game. Children 5 and under are free
for the tailgate and the game, if they sit on a parent’s lap
during the game. Join us for fellowship, a lot of goofy fun,
and hopefully some great baseball! Sign-up on the bulletin
